This is not a new idea but I want to revive this idea and debate among us Muslims living in America (7 million strong ) to have a full-time operatonal Islamic oriented medical center in each major city of the country. A few days back I came across an article written by a doctor from Chicago who had similar ambition and a vision to start ” An American Muslim Hospital ” . After reading her article which is posted on pakistanlink.com I e-mailed the article with my thoughts of starting an Islamic Medical Center here in New Jersey to a group of friends and people I knew in the community. To my suprise within 60 seconds of my e-mail I got two doctors who replied back to me on coming on board on this idea. I know there is a great demand and a need to have a long -term care facility such as a hospital or a nursing home for the Muslims living close the large cities around the country. I want to hear from others who would like to join in this disussion to see how this can be put into action and also is there a really need for this ? SH

New York- Among the people still running for president are Hillary Clinton, John Edwards, John McCain, Barack Obama, and … Khalil Bendib.“For the record, I declared BEFORE Stephen Colbert, but have so far received slightly less coverage for some strange reason,” the Muslim-American editorial cartoonist said.Bendib added: “This is a fictitious campaign meant to spread a message of tolerance and debunk the Islamophobic hysteria that’s being whipped up to justify rolling backing our constitution.”Excerpts from his presidential announcement: “After carefully testing the waters for months, the candidate started pounding the pavement, mindful to not appear too stereotypically violent or too ‘anti-pavement.’ … How does Khalil Bendib propose to outdo the clowns currently occupying the White House? The key … will be to make the rest of the world laugh with us, rather than laugh at us, as has been the case for too long. …“‘Once elected, I will act like a patriot — and repeal the Patriot Act!’ … Instead of bombing Iran, we will shame the Islamic Republic into voluntarily abandoning its nuclear ambitions. How? We will lead by example and demand the dismantlement of all nuclear weapons everywhere, starting with the world’s largest arsenal –- our own.”
The California-based Bendib does his cartoons for more than 1,700 small and mid-sized newspapers as well as various Web sites.
